Item Description
Coastal Strip
1) Strip of land at the edge of the sea; sandy beach. The coastal strip, together with the constructions existing on the costal strip, belongs to the State property. The State property can allow the temporary use of the coastal strip to private citizens with the payment of a rent. 2) Sandy isle, parallel to the coast, that tends to close an inlet, forming a lagoon or a coastal swamp. The coastal strips are shorelines formed by the action of sea transport and deposit; where they aren’t protected or fixed by the vegetation, they tend to migrate towards the coast, because of wave motion. In the Venice Lagoon, strip of land separating the Lagoon from the sea. It is formed by a strip of high dunes made up of river alluvium, mainly the Tagliamento and the Piave, modelled by the current in this shape parallel to the coast, that in Northern Adriatic has a direction from North-East to South-West.
