Geographic Range Europe, Asia, Africa, North America.
Physical Characteristics it's blue-grey with white barred underparts. Long black tail with white spots. Wings are short and pointed.
Behaviour it commits the breeding of its chicks to other birds. Each female lays her eggs in the nest of another species when the owner is absent.
Notes once the cuckoo has hatched, it will eject the other eggs or young so that it will receive all the food brought by the "foster parents".
Habitat moorlands, forests, cultivated areas, reeds.
Flight quick shallow wing-beats. The wings are always held below the horizontal level.
Food habits it is insectivore, it eats caterpillars, spiders, larvae.
Migration in winter it migrates toward Africa and South Sahara.
Nidification between March and April it lays 12 - 13 eggs in more than one nest. The eggs are incubated for 12 days.
