Geographic Range |
it reproduces in continental Europe up to
Sweden and Denmark, but not in Great Britain. It can be found also in Asia.

Physical Characteristics |
adult has a brown-red back, without streaks.
The chest is yellow-reddish. Forehead is flat, beak is strong and pointed.
There is no sexual dimorphism. |
Habitat |
it lives on beds of reeds of river banks,
lakes and marshes. |
Food habits |
it feeds mostly on insects and small invertebrates
that it finds on trees, bushes and among reeds. |
Migration |
in August-September it migrates towards sub-Saharan
Africa and comes back in April-May. |
Nidification |
it nests among in small colonies. The nest is anchored
to the reedbed, and it is made of reeds and covered by roots, flowers and
grass. |
Reproduction |
male can have 2 or 3 female. 4 to 6 eggs
are layed one time each year from May to June. Their hatching lasts 14 to
15 days. The young leave the nest around the 12th day. |
