Distribuzione Eastern Atlantic, Mediterranean Sea, Black Sea.
Geographic Range the body is high, the back is curved and dark grey with yellowish lights, while abdomen is silvery. It has two dorsal fins, ventral fins and the anal one are dark with a white lower edge.
Behaviour it is a nocturnal species.
Habitat it is found in shallow coastal sea water on rocky bottom and in phanerogam prairies, at a depth between 3 and 180 meters.
Food habits it feeds on crustaceans and little fishes.
Reproduction reproduction period goes form June to August. In order to attract females, male emits a sound compressing swimming bladder.
