Geographic Range it is found in temperate regions of Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia and America .
Physical Characteristics perennial herbaceous plant,with deep root system, forming large tussocks. The culms are glabrous, erect, 15-140 centimeters tall. Leaves are scabrous, green or glaucous-green, 30-60 centimeters long, 5 - 10 millimeters broad. Panicles are erect. Spikelets, 7 -8 millimeters long, formed by 2 - 4 flowers, are gahtered in dense one-sided fascicles borne at ends of branches. It flowers in July - August, sometimes even in May.
Notes it grows on almost any type of soil. It can stand shortage of water and high temperatures.
